Karen Halford

Following a 30 year career in Human Resources spanning talent acquisition​, resourcing, learning & leadership development as well as generalist roles​ and ​leading ​shared services​ teams​, Karen joined HomeServe Membership as Interim Human Resources Director in May 2017, appointed on a permanent basis in February 2018.​ Karen brings a wealth of experience from FTSE 100 Corporates to SME businesses, as well as a private equity funded business where she undertook a general management role. ​

One of Karen’s focus areas at HomeServe has been new business​ acquisition and integration​. Following the acquisition​s​ of Home Energy Services​ and Npower,​ Karen led the successful integration of People from ​both businesses into HomeServe, to create HomeServe Gas.

In 2017, HomeServe opened an industry-leading Gas Academy, offering the opportunity for all training to be provided in-house.​ ​In 2018, and under Karen’s stewardship, HomeServe’s Learning and Development team picked up three HR Distinction awards; ‘Learning and Organisational Development Award’, ‘Leadership Development Award’ and ‘Learning and Development Team of the Year’ in recognition of its unique and innovative Learning and Development Strategy.

A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Karen graduated with an MSc in Human Resources Development and later gained an MBA in General Business Administration from Wolverhampton University. Karen lives in Worcestershire with her husband and two grown up children.
