A team of kind-hearted HomeServe employees are breathing new life into the Walsall FC Community Room after the Walsall-based home assistance company donated £15,000 for its renovation.
The team began work at the Walsall FC’s Community Room at the Banks’s Stadium this week, just days before the club’s Wembley appearance in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final, and will spend the next three weeks replacing and refitting the kitchen and girls and boys bathrooms, installing new flooring, radiators, ceiling tiles and fixtures and fittings and decorating the room so that is can be used by local schools and community groups.
Walsall-based HomeServe, principle partner of Walsall FC, is backing the much-needed project by freeing up over 30 staff to volunteer their time, as well as providing a range of tools and resources alongside HomeServe suppliers ADI.
“As proud sponsors of the club, we’re delighted to be able to provide funding, tools and volunteers to breathe new life into this much-need facility”, said Homeserve’s Director of Corporate affairs John Greaves.
“Once completed, we hope this room becomes something that benefits many children and community groups for years to come. It’s all part of us giving back to the community that we’re proud to call home and we hope it will also be a lasting legacy to inspire generations to come”, added Greaves.
The community room is primarily used to host activities for children aged between four and 11 at the stadium and currently welcomes around 6,500 every year, operating as a pre-match facility for ball boys and match day visits, soccer schools and school visits.
Adam Davy, Walsall FC Community Director, added: “This is a tremendous philanthropic donation from HomeServe and we’re delighted that they’re giving us so much staff time, and the resources, to help us transform our much-loved – and well used – community room! Having HomeServe as a partner of the club is great for the club and the community and we can’t wait to see the finished work. It’s something we hope will benefit many people – particularly the many thousands of children who use the facility every year.”
